APIs help companies connect with customers
The ability for APIs to enable digital transformation is the primary reason they have been adopted by commerce platforms and many of the vendors who live in that ecosystem. APIs provide an easy solution to create new channels for customers and develop new products and services. An effective API can give new and existing customers a reason to interact with your business and connect with you on a personal level — by making the experience stand out and helping define your brand. They are also agile enough to survive the new way of life in today’s digital IT world based on Cloud, IoT and AI.
Gartner predicts that by next year, a typical eCommerce experience will depend on at least 30 integrated applications, up from 16 just a couple of years ago. APIs are the glue that makes it possible to do this.
SoFy Takes Away the Complexity
We’ve blogged before about the HCL Solution Factory (SoFy), a rich catalog of products and rest APIs containerized for custom cloud solutions and designed to help accelerate the adoption of cloud native. The response from everyone who has seen it, is that they immediately see the value.
One of the many things that gets users excited is how SoFy brings APIs to life. Too often when the business needs to enhance the experience by integrating products together, they find it is too complex, that they don’t have an environment ready to use to test it with, and they don’t have the documentation easily to hand. Now with SoFy they have one-click deployment, which ensures immediate accessibility to the application or platform like HCL Commerce. Secondly, they have access to all the Commerce APIs right there in SoFy, along with the documentation and Swagger, so they can start playing with it immediately and even throw some (xml) data at it to see it work! Where’s the complexity in that? I’m a marketing guy who has been in the software business a few years and even I can do that!
Today, agility is the key to the success of the business and with SoFy we give you that agility, plus we are advancing cloud native technologies together and finally solving the integration nightmare.
